Media Release

Peter Gutwein MP
Shadow Minister for Forestry

Wednesday 16th March, 2011

Moratorium map too embarrassing because it comes from the Greens’ photocopier

The Resources Minister Bryan Green’s continued refusal to release the map Forestry Tasmania are working off for the harvesting moratorium as part of the disastrous Statement of Principles process demonstrates clearly that it is the photocopied Greens’ pre-election policy map, and he’s too embarrassed to admit it.

The Greens and Labor are supporting a process to lock up more than 550,000 hectares of native forest forever, decimating our forestry and mining industries.

Given the Premier has quantified the amount of land to be put into reserves, Mr Green would certainly have a map of the areas that will be locked up.

Why won’t he release it?

He must be too embarrassed to admit that the Greens have forced Labor’s hand on this issue.
