ANZ job ads – more bad news for the Gov’t to ignore
The latest data from the ANZ on job ads shows newspaper job advertisements fell by 11.5 per cent during 2010 in trend terms in Tasmania, and by 33.4 per cent in seasonally adjusted terms.
And yet we have a State Government that continually claims that all is well with our economy.
In month on month figures, job ads remained flat in trend terms (rising by only two adverts), and fell by 4.7 per cent in seasonally adjusted terms – so there’s no way that the Treasurer Lara Giddings can spin this in a positive light.
Jobs in Tasmania are increasingly under pressure with poor retail data, and evidence that businesses are failing at record levels.
Tasmanian businesses are facing increasingly higher costs just to open their doors - power prices, high taxes, water and sewerage and ongoing red tape are preventing businesses from hiring.
Wake up Ms Giddings. Do something about the state of our economy.
