Unemployment rate doesn’t match Government rhetoric

While the Government pretends that nothing is wrong and that Tasmania is in an economic renaissance, unemployment is rising and other states are outperforming Tasmania as they come out of the global financial crisis quicker than us.

While the Premier and Treasurer crow about what a fantastic job they are doing, the reality is that an increasing number of people are struggling.

Today’s unemployment figures show that in the 12 months to November, 8,600 jobs disappeared.

If the Government is prepared to claim credit for any drop in the unemployment rate, will the Treasurer and Premier now come out and accept full responsibility for today’s alarming figures?
